Letter: Bishop Keiran Conry is human
I'm unhappy about the way certain factions in the Catholic Church are judging Bishop Keiran Conry rather harshly which there is actually very little information about what really happened. I wouldn't trust the Daily Mail frankly - and Bishop Keiran has simply owned up to a lapse in his vows of celibacy six years ago. So - he is human. His friendship with another woman more recently, he says is platonic, and why should we not believe that he is telling the truth?
The woman in question wants to leave her husband, We don't know the details of their troubled marriage - nor should we - but frankly the husband is the sort of man that hires a private detective to follow his wife around around, and does not mind washing all their dirty linen in public - and causing great embarrassment to their children in a small town - then she might have good reasons to be unhappy about their marriage.
Time we all backed off I think. What did Jesus say to the woman caught in adultery? Let's back off and pray for all the parties concerned - especially the children - that this sad affair can end soon and everyone can pick up their lives again.
