South African priest, aged 80, walks 300 km for charity

Mgr Nadal at Tui
By the age of 80 most people are starting to slow down a bit and take life more easily - but not Mgr Paul Nadal - a senior priest from Durban, South Africa. On 24 May, he set out on a 300km pilgrimage walk to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, to raise funds for the Denis Hurley Centre at Emmanuel Cathedral, which offers a range of services for homeless people and refugees.
Mgr Nadal's walk began in Portugal. On the way he visited the shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. His plan was to arrive in Santiago de Compostela on 5 June. In fact he got there today - two days early - and should be enjoying a well-deserved rest before he flies back to South Africa in time for his 81st birthday celebrations.
A special Gala Dinner to welcome Mgr Nadal back from Camino and celebrate his birthday will take place on Friday, 21 June at the DLI Hall, Greyville Race Course.
