Woolwich churches unite in prayer

In the wake of yesterday's tragic death of a soldier from Woolwich Barracks, Drummer Lee Rigby, aged 25, of the 2nd Battalion of Fusliers, the local community came together at St Peter the Apostle Church, Woolwich, to offer Mass at 12.30pm today, Thursday, 25th May 2013. Bishop Patrick presided at the Mass and the parish clergy Father Michael Branch and Father Lloyd Shanthikumar, concelebrated in the presence of the Anglican Bishop of Woolwich, Dr Michael Ipgrave.
During the Mass, prayers were offered for the young man whose life was brutally taken in yesterday’s incident and also for his family and his friends and colleagues at Woolwich Barracks.
Special tribute was given to all the emergency services for their courageous response to the event.
