Focus on the Sacraments in Diocese of Westminster Lenten lecture series

Celebration of Faith: Sacraments Redeeming Beauty, a four part ‘Faith Matters’ lecture series takes place in Westminster Cathedral Hall on Thursday evenings throughout Lent. In this Year of Faith this lecture series will focus on Part II of the Catechism of the Catholic Church - 'The Celebration of the Christian Mystery’.
The opening lecture, on Thursday 28 February 2013, will be given by George Stack, Archbishop of Cardiff and is entitled ‘O Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness’: Art and Architecture, Poetry and Music at the Service of the Liturgy’.
On 7 March, Rev Dr Andrew Cameron-Mowat SJ will give a talk entitled ‘Eucharist: Sacrament of Healing, of Unity and of Life. Fr Andrew Cameron-Mowat, SJ is a lecturer in Liturgy at Heythrop College, University of London and parish priest of Farm St Church of the Immaculate Conception in Mayfair. He will lead us in a reflection on the supreme sacrament through which all our endeavours in this special Year of Faith ultimately find their meaning.
On Tuesday 14 March, Bishop John Arnold will explore the Sacrament of Reconciliation in a lecture entitled ‘Reconciliation: Wasted Sacrament or Valued Gift?’ and will look at how the Sacrament of Reconciliation offers us one of the best possibilities for growth in self- knowledge and wisdom.
Finally, on Thursday 21 March Andrew Carwood, artistic director of The Cardinall’s Musick and Director of Music at St Paul’s Cathedral will give a talk entitled ‘A Treasure of Inestimable Value: Music as Liturgy and Prayer.’
