Petition in support of Religious Sisters in the USA
The dedicated communities of Religious Sisters in the USA, who carry out social work, prison visiting, teaching, nursing and other jobs, in some of the most deprived areas of the country have already undegone an intensive inspection by the Vatican. Instead of encouraging them in their work, the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR) has been told that they need to be 'reformed'.
This seems to me an incredibly heavy-handed approach. To the outside world it looks like misogyny. To young women considering entering religious life, it is hardly a positive message.
If you would like to express your support for the Sisters, please sign the following petition which asks the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith respectfully withdraw the mandate forced upon LCWR.
