Sir Cliff Richards promotes summer holiday Bible project

Churchgoers are being encouraged by Sir Cliff Richard to make the most of their summer holiday by recording their favourite Bible chapter on the beach …. or wherever they are spending their break.

The King James Bible Trust has this week released new easy to follow summer recording guidelines for their ambitious YouTube project to get the whole Bible read aloud online, with the support of the Summer Holiday popstar.

A range of figures from the Church, politics and the arts have already supported the project including the Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams who recorded Job 38.

The YouTube recordings are part of the 400th anniversary celebrations of the King James Bible.

Sir Cliff who plans to record his chapter in the autumn said this week: "The YouTube Bible is a great modern way of fusing this wonderful old literary text with a worldwide digital phenomenon. The King James Bible was translated to be read out aloud, and the YouTube Bible does just that, allowing anyone to upload their own reading to create a complete living Bible for posterity. Your summer holiday could be the perfect
opportunity."

Earlier in the year the Bishop of Oxford the Rt Revd John Pritchard recorded Psalm 67 with a group of Church of England primary school pupils in Didcot while Frank Field Labour MP for Birkenhead and Trustee of the King James Bible Trust shared in a CofE podcast how Church schools are marking the celebration on YouTube, and why the King James version is still relevant today.

The recording can be done in four easy steps…Decide, Check, Record and Upload:

1) Decide: Pick your favourite chapter from the King James Bible.

2) Check: Go to the site to check your chosen reading hasn't been recorded already.

3) Record: Film time now! You can use any of the following for this:: a webcam a digital camera or a mobile phone

Record your chapter wherever you like, start with your name, where you're from and perhaps why you've chosen your chapter. Read just one chapter per video clip, but you can submit as many chapters as you like.

4) Upload: Upload it onto your computer, and if you have a YouTube account yourself upload it onto www.youtube.com. You can create an account by clicking "create account" on the top right hand side of their homepage.

Then send that YouTube link in an email to info@kjbtrust.com.

If you don't have a YouTube account, email the file of your chapter video to info@kjbtrust.com, and it will be uploaded for you to the YouTube Bible channel.
