Palm Sunday procession in north London

Traffic came to a standstill in north London yesterday, when parishioners from several churches gathered together at the gates of Finsbury Park to share an Ecumenical Service of Blessing of Palms, with music and singing.

This was the fifth year that St Thomas More's Roman Catholic Church, St Olaves Anglican Church, St John the Evangelist Anglican Church and the Methodist United Reform Church of Finsbury Park have united their congregations on Palm Sunday morning.

It was a beautiful sunny day. After the service, the crowds processed to their different churches for Palm Sunday celebrations. St Thomas More's parish were led by Patrick the donkey, who was on his first outing to London.
