London: debate on Robin Hood Tax

CAFOD, St Paul's Institute, Tearfund and The Salvation Army have come together to host a panel debate in St Paul’s Cathedral this Tuesday 29 March 2011 at 7pm.

The debate will focus on whether or not, and the extent to which, the financial sector has a moral role to play in contributing to the common good.

Public discussion on this topic has been stirred by the Robin Hood Tax campaign , which proposes an additional tax on the financial sector to raise billions of pounds that could be used to fight poverty and climate change both here and abroad.

Evan Davis, well known economist and BBC presenter, will chair the debate which consists of panelists from different perspectives, including: Ken Costa, Chairman of Lazard International; Michael Izza, CEO of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales; Rt Revd Peter Selby, former Bishop of Worcester and Baroness Shirley Williams.

The event is free and non-ticketed. Doors open at 6.15pm for a 7.00pm start.
