SVP in Australia launch emergency flood appeal
The St Vincent de Paul Society in Australia has launched an emergency appeal, as an area larger than France and Germany combined has been submerged under water, in the country's worst floods in more than 50 years.
Thousands of people across Queensland have lost their homes and personal belongings in the deluge. While many SVP members have been affected themselves, volunteers able to get out have been visiting the flood zones offering emergency support.
When the water has receded as always they will be there for the long term, getting gifts of furniture and clothing to the people who need them.
