Pax Christi Cycling Pilgrimage for Peace
A cycling pilgrimage for Peace has been organised in August by Pax Christi to celebrate peace and to raise funds for important peace education work.
Setting off from Barrow-in-Furness, the home of the UK’s nuclear fleet, on Friday 18 August, the group will reach Whitby on Monday 21 August and doff cycling caps in honour of St Hilda. Along the way there will be overnight stops in Kendal, Bernard Castle and Great Ayton. Accommodation is provided. Participants must be strong cyclists, capable of riding 45-60 miles per day, both up hill and down dale, for four days.
Or cyclists can join in the last 30-mile leg into Whitby.
Most of the ride is on-road. A profile of the route is here - http://cyclingw2w.info/
