Westminster Interfaith Pilgrimage

If you happen to be at Stevenage Railway station at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning, you will see a happy crowd of people of all faiths gathering to take part in the Annual Multi Faith Pilgrimage, some for the first time and some, perhaps, for the 21st time.

The Pilgrimage will bring people of all faiths from Hertfordshire, London and regulars from further afield to travel by coach and on foot to significant Faith venues in Stevenage, Letchworth, Welwyn Garden City and Hitchin.

Now in its 21st year the Pilgrimage is organised by Westminster Interfaith, the office coordinating action and information about interreligious dialogue within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Westminster. Boundaries being what they are, the Diocese stretches into Hertfordshire and so this year, for the second time, the Pilgrimage comes to this area, where there are several communities of Faith and a vibrant interest in interreligious dialogue and engagement with the local community.

"We welcome multi faith initiatives," said Jenny Kartupelis of the East of England Faiths Council. "Having evidence of the vital role of faiths to the region, we encourage working together in this way as the foundation to extend further that contribution to everyone's well being."

Points of arrival on the pilgrimage are: The Nanaksar Sar That Ishar Darbar Sikh Temple at 7 Gernon Walk, Letchworth Garden City 9.35am All Saints Church, the Oval, Pin Green 10.50am The Focolare Centre for Unity, Parkway, Welwyn Garden City (for lunch at 12 noon) The Coptic Orthodox Church Centre, Shaphalbury Manor, Broadhall Way, Stevenage 1.30pm Stevenage Community Muslim Centre, Vardon Road, 2.45pm The Ravidassia Community Centre, Knowl Place, Hitchin 4.10pm The Guru Nanak Gurdwara, 37 Wilbury Way Stevenage 6.15pm Westminster Interfaith was founded in 1984 by Brother Daniel Faivre.
