Renowned Scottish tenor and classical guitarist Martin Aelred will be giving a performance of living art in real time as part of the Glasgow Archdiocese's LentFest. The Canto del Paradiso Concert at St Aloysius' Church in Glasgow this Friday (22 February) is described as 'a journey, in song and art, through life's complexities where Faith and Hope inspire a vision of Paradise'. It forms part of AGAP - the Archdiocese of Glasgow Arts Project.

Martin Aelred's international concert tours in aid of charities such as Mary's Meals have won him high acclaim, giving audiences a totally unique Contemporary Opera experience on their doorstep and benefit worthy causes.

He recently performed the premier of his arrangement of Puccini's Messa di Gloria for vocals and classical guitar as part of AGAP's Year of Faith. He compares himself to 'a 17th Century monk in a 21st Century body' and says his motivation is 'a desire to make our world a better place by uniting people through music'.

The concert at the Jesuit church on Rose Hill on Friday will feature 'live art' created during the performance in 'real time' by special guest artist, Alexander Moffat RSA, former Head of Painting at Glasgow School of Art and co-author of Arts of Resistance: Poets, Portraits and Landscapes of Modern Scotland (Luath Press, 2008). Artwork created during the concert will be sold in aid of the Scottish Overseas Aid Charity, SCIAF.

The Canto del Paradiso Concert at St Aloysius' Church, Rose Hill, Glasgow takes place this Friday, 22 February, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £7 (£5 concessions) available through www.agap.org.uk
