Click now to support much-needed women's project

By simply voting for St Mary's Convent, on the form at the end of this page, you can help them receive funding to set up a new support group in Birmingham for women who are vulnerable due to domestic violence, forced marriage or those who feel isolated due to cultural traditions.

Birmingham West and Central police have set up a public vote to help determine where money recovered from the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) should be spent. The Proceeds of Crime Act allows officers to recover money and assets from offenders that is deemed to have been gained through criminal activity.

A total of eight local projects has been shortlisted for possible POCA funding.

You may only vote ONCE for the project of your choosing.

The new St Mary’s project will run group meetings four days a week for 12 months, during which women will be able to work together to raise their self-esteem and learn about British culture through story telling, poetry, art, music and cookery.

The project will look to engage women from the Lozells, Handsworth, Birchfield, Ladywood and Aston areas of Birmingham and funding is required for venue hire and equipment.

Voting finishes at midnight on Friday 3 February. To vote follow the link below or copy and paste it in your address bar: www.west-midlands.police.uk/np/birminghamwestandcentral/vote/
