London: Elizabeth Wang exhibition

Like Elijah we are called to seek the presence of God, and be awestruck before His power and majesty and beauty

'The Mystery of Faith': An exhibition of new and rarely seen pictures by Catholic artist Elizabeth Wang runs from  today, 15 July - 31 October 2009 at the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St Simon Stock, 41 Kensington Church St, London W8 4BB. The Church is open daily from 7am to 7pm. Entrance is free, the exhibition is closed during services.

Elizabeth said:  " "My hope for the visitors who see these pictures is that they will have a firm reminder of God's immense love for us, and of the marvellous ways in which he is at work to draw us to himself”.

The pictures should inspire those searching for a deeper faith, and encourage those who have none. They illustrate well-known Christian themes in striking contemporary imagery.

On Saturday 31 October, from 2pm to 4pm, there will be an afternoon of reflection and worship in the Carmelite Church where the exhibition is taking place. This includes a talk by the artist on the exhibition theme, the celebration of Holy Mass, and refreshments in the hall. All are welcome; no tickets are required.

Elizabeth Wang, 66, has exhibited at the Royal Academy, and the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours. She has had solo exhibitions of religious work at Westminster Cathedral, the Bar Convent Museum (York), Notre Dame de France Church (London), and at various schools and parishes throughout the country.  Elizabeth is a convert to Catholicism and is the founder of Radiant Light, a small movement in the Catholic Church which aims to "encourage people to grow in holiness by believing and living the
Catholic faith in its fullness". Her artwork has been used for evangelisation in many countries, including recently in the UK in
catechetical text books, on a diocesan vocations poster and on an altar frontal. Free high-quality downloads of her pictures are available for certain uses at www.radiantlight.org.uk.
