Carmelites elect new Provincial and Council
At a meeting at Aylesford Priory of Carmelite Friars from all over Great Britain, Fr Tony Lester was elected Prior Provincial of the British Province of the Carmelite Order. Fr Tony, 45, is Prior of the Carmelite Community of York, and has been Roman Catholic Chaplain to York University for the last seven years. He comes from Eccleston in Lancashire. He was professed as a Carmelite Friar at Aylesford in 1975. Other Brothers elected to the Provincial Council were: Frs. Pat O'Keeffe, O.Carm., Richard Copsey, O.Carm., Michael Manning, O.Carm.' and Wilfrid McGreal, O.Carm. The team take up their new responsibilities at the Provincial Chapter in the first week of April.
