Aylesford: three begin Carmelite noviciate

Three men were received into the noviciate and clothed in the Carmelite habit at Aylesford Priory, Kent, during evening prayer yesterday. Michael Brookes and Neil Scott belong to the British Province of Carmelites and James Eivers to the Irish Province. The one-year noviciate is a time of prayer and discernment learning to live the Carmelite way of life in community. During the noviciate all three brothers will spend a month in Ireland. Prior to beginning the noviciate Michael worked as a psychiatric nurse and managed a GP practise; Neil worked as a carer for the local authority with people with learning difficulties and James worked in a bank and founded the Icthus Gospel choir.
