'Nano' visits Presentation Sisters schools and centres

  • Sr Susan Richert

As part of their 250 years of foundation celebrations, the Presentation Sisters in England invited Judie Chalmers to England. Judie is an actress who brings the story of their Foundress, Nano Nagle to life for children and for adults. She was in England for a week visiting a few of the many schools where the Presentation Sisters ministered. When asked what was Nano like - the children responded by using words such as - "inspiring; role model; helps everyone; she came to our school today; did her bit for the world; made a difference."

Asked how they enjoyed the visit - they said it was "great; fun; inspirational; fascinating; relaxing; wonderful; intriguing; exciting."

'Nano' also visited their Care Centre in Matlock and hosted a day for Sisters, Associates and Friends of Nano on Saturday 17th October in Matlock. They found the day (among other things) inspiring, moving, an experience, up lifting and an insight into Nano and her life and mission. What stayed with many was the Nagle motto of 'Not words but deeds' and the call that is to us today. She was known as the Lady of the Lantern and Judie certainly brought her to life for us.
