Westminster Interfaith group attend Peace Day event at Al-Khoei Foundation

Members of the Westminster Cathedral Interfaith group attended a most interesting International Peace Day event at the Al-Khoei Foundation in Brondesbury Park recently. After a visit to the beautiful mosque where we were warmly welcomed by Imam Sheikh Mustafa and his family, we heard from various speakers including the local Archdeacon, the local Anglican priest, the Imam, Jewish and peace group members and an especially fine speech from the local rabbi.

On Wednesday 14 October 2026, the group will be attending a one-day Religious Literacy programme exploring Islam from a Shia perspective, designed especially for civil servants, teachers and other professionals.

The day will be led by Dr Chris Hewer, who will provide an accessible introduction to Shia Islam and facilitate discussion on theology, leadership, contemporary religious guidance and the lived experience of Shia communities today.

The programme will also include: A guided tour of the mosque; A short conversation with Imam Sheikh Mustafa; Open Q&A and discussion; Exploration of contemporary issues affecting Shia communities, including how international events and public narratives can impact Shia diaspora communities in Britain.
