Cardinal Hume Quiet Garden

St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the southernmost parish in Islington on the edge of London's Barbican, is taking part in the Open House Festival, along with its ecumenical neighbour, the Methodist Wesley's Chapel. The Open House Festival enables people to visit buildings which are not always open to the public.

Often described by visitors as a "hidden gem", St Joseph's in Bunhill Row, is now open from Saturday, 12 September to Sunday, 20 September.

With its prize-winning Quiet Garden in memory of Cardinal Basil Hume, the parish is also marking the Season of Creation until 4 October.

The Garden remains open until the end of October 2026 and reopens, Easter 2027.

St. Joseph's Church & Garden are in Lamb's Buildings, off Lamb's Passage, London EC1Y 8LD. Nearest stations: Barbican, Farringdon Elizabeth Line (Barbican Exit), and Old Street.
