Play: Faith and Hope - Performance by JRS UK Drama Group

Faith and Hope at St George-in-the-East Church
Faith and Hope, JRS UK's new play, premiering at St George-in-the-East Church in Wapping next Monday, explores the question: 'Is humanity always a victim in times of crisis?'
Faith and Hope is a devised reworking of Odon von Horvath's play Faith, Hope and Charity. Written and set in Germany in 1932, against the backdrop of economic hardship and political instability, Horvath's play was based on a real young woman who got into trouble with the authorities for working without a sales permit.
With the action relocated to present day UK, Faith and Hope follows the struggles of a young woman without status and explores the question 'Is humanity always a victim in times of crisis?'
The performance was created by refugee friends through a series of improvisational workshops where elements of the plot, characters and theme of Horvath's text were used to create a new story for today.
Faith and Hope is at St George-in-the-East Church, 14 Cannon Street Road, London E1 0BH on Monday, June 22 from 7 - 8pm
