Blackpool: Primary school pupils raise over £4k with 'Holy Mudder'

Students from Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Blackpool participated in a Tough Mudder event, raising more than £4,000 for the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD).
The fundraiser, fondly dubbed the 'Holy Mudder', saw the children take on a muddy obstacle course packed with crawling, climbing, balancing and teamwork challenges.
Headteacher Emma Allonby said: "I am absolutely delighted and immensely proud of our fundraising efforts. As a Catholic school community, we are called during Lent to reflect deeply on the importance of prayer, fasting and giving. This year our pupils truly embraced that mission with generosity, joy and a wonderful sense of fun.
"We decided upon something slightly different this year. Our sponsored event, affectionately named 'Holy Mudder', brought together pupils, staff and families for a brilliantly bonkers day of muddy determination and laughter.
"The children tackled a huge, muddy school-field-sized assault course! They spent the whole day enjoying the course, tackling the obstacles with enthusiasm and building resilience, all in the spirit of helping those less fortunate than themselves. It was a day filled with energy, teamwork, joy and, of course, plenty of mud!"
CAFOD Schools Volunteer Diane Gallagher said: "The Holy Mudder has been an enormous success, and we are absolutely blown away by the amount of money the school have raised. We would like to say an enormous thank you to staff, pupils and all in the Holy Family community for their tremendous efforts. This truly is faith in action and communities around the world will benefit hugely from these extremely kind donations.
"Seeing the determination of the children to support their global neighbours gives hope that together we really can build a better world."
