Wild Rose at Farm Street Film Club

'Wild Rose' is being screened at the Tim Hetherington Film Club at Farm Street Jesuit Centre, this Thursday.
David Hurst writes: "Was I prescient in my choice of film for this month?! As the wonderful Irish actress, Jessie Buckley, won the Best Actress award for her performance in 'Hamnet' at both the OSCARS and the BAFTA awards, we will follow her zeitgeist and show the film that convinced me just how good she is - it is as if I knew!
'Wild Rose' is a 2018 musical drama which tells the story of a troubled young Glaswegian musician who follows her dream of becoming a Nashville country music star. It is not dissimilar to the brilliant story of Bob Dylan's early life on the road, 'A Complete Unknown', starring Timothy Chalomet. Maybe this will be next month's film.
Our film also stars Julie Walters and Sophie Okonedo and received positive reviews, including 7.8 on Rotten Tomatoes, with Jessie Buckley earning a Best Actress nomination at the 2019 BAFTAS for her performance.
I promise a money-back guarantee if you don't enjoy this heart-warming film, so do come along and see for yourself."
Wild Rose is at the Tim Hetherington Film Club, Farm Street Jesuit Centre, at 6.30 for 7pm. Thursday, 26 March 2026 - Cost: no charge, free refreshments but donations are welcome.
