"Pray for peace, work for peace, less hatred. Hatred in the world is constantly increasing." This was the appeal Pope Leo XIV shared with a group of journalists outside Villa Barberini, the residence in Castel Gandolfo, where he was spending his weekly day off yesterday.

As attacks increase in the Middle East and fear and tensions grow around the world, the Pope urged pursuing the goal of peace. He called on everyone to "truly strive to promote dialogue" and to "seek solutions without weapons to resolve problems."

These words echo those he spoke last Sunday at the Angelus, during which, referring to the attack by the United States and Israel on Iran and Iran's bombings of several areas in the Middle East, Leo XIV said: "Stability and peace are not achieved through mutual threats, nor through the use of weapons, which sow destruction, suffering, and death, but only through reasonable, sincere, and responsible dialogue."
