New controls in Occupied West Bank 'another nail in the coffin' for a Palestinian state

The international development agency Christian Aid has urged the UK government to impose an immediate ban on all goods from illegal Israeli settlements.
It follows the Israeli Security Cabinet approving measures aimed at deepening controls on property rights in the occupied West Bank and further weakening the Palestinian Authority.
William Bell, Head of Middle East Policy and Advocacy at Christian Aid, said: "This is yet another nail in the coffin of the Palestinian state. Until the UK Government and others start to hold Israel to account for such moves then their recognition of Palestine as a state means very little.
"As a start the Government could announce a ban on all goods from illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank being sold in the UK tomorrow.
"Such a move would send a clear signal that Israel's continued and expanding illegal occupation is the main obstacle to a just peace."
