Father David Cain from the Holy Family Parish in East Leicester, is doing Lent differently this year. Rather than giving something up, Father David and a group of parishioners have decided to take something on - a charity fundraiser for the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD).
CAFOD's 'Big Lent Walk' challenges participants to tread 200km in 40 days to provide clean water for thousands of people across the world. Over 1,000 fundraisers across the country will take part this year, including groups from schools and parishes. Also joining Father David in his mission are some familiar famous faces - BBC Traitors winner Harry Clark and England football legend Sue Smith.
Father David said: "Last year, eighteen of us put our best feet forward in aid of CAFOD's fight against global poverty. I very much look forward to doing it all again this year.
"We'll be at Watermead Country Park on Saturday 28th February and would love to see some fellow fundraisers on the day. We're also hoping to be reunited with our good friend, who journeyed with us last year, a bar-headed goose named Tim!"
