Cardinal Radcliffe takes possession of his titular church

The Dominican Friars in Britain write: On the first Sunday of Advent, our brother Cardinal Timothy Radcliffe took possession of his titular church in Rome, the Chiesa dei Santi Nomi di Gesù e Maria, located on Via del Corso in the centre of the city. The beautiful Baroque church was built in the 17th century, originally for discalced Augustinians.
Cardinals are traditionally assigned a titular church within the diocese of Rome, symbolising their relationship with the Pope as Bishop of Rome. The official ceremony whereby the church welcomes its cardinal is known as the 'presa di possesso'.
Accompanying our cardinal were members of our Province: Fr Ben Earl OP (representing the Master of the Order), and Fr Thomas-Thérèse Mannion.
