National Jubilee Pilgrimage of Hope Special Podcast Episode

Pilgrims at St Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham
Last weekend pilgrims completed a striking journey, walking from four corners of England and Wales, their routes tracing out a huge sign of the cross. The pilgrim ways, named for the four evangelists, converged at St Barnabas Cathedral in Nottingham. The voices of many of those pilgrims feature in this week's episode of the All Kinds of Catholic podcast. Podcast host, Theresa Alessandro, travelled to meet with each group of pilgrims on their different journeys. With other 'day pilgrims', Theresa joined the last day of walking and talked to pilgrims as they arrived in Nottingham, in some cases after two weeks on their feet.
Many pilgrims spoke about feeling a growing sense of hope. They recounted lots of examples of welcoming hospitality from parishes, as they passed through. One 'perpetual pilgrim' walking from Cardiff to Nottingham described, 'This feeling of a fire coming along and just burning hotter and hotter. And it's burning in our hearts and in the people around us.'
The podcast episode captures some of the prayer which formed a key part of each day and which many pilgrims deeply appreciated. There is some singing too. As one pilgrim pointed out, 'Through the ages pilgrims have sung - to keep going when you're flagging or when you get lost.'
Theresa said, 'I hope listeners who were not able to join the pilgrimage will nevertheless be able to share in it, by listening to the pilgrims in this special episode. It was a privilege to be present for a small part of this Jubilee endeavour. I want to thank the pilgrims who generously spent a few minutes finding words for the riches they were experiencing.'

About the podcast
The All Kinds of Catholic podcast is created and hosted by Theresa Alessandro. In each episode, Theresa is in conversation with a different Catholic guest exploring how they live their faith in the world today. Guests will often be people who are not in the public eye. Taken together, their stories illustrate the image Pope Francis uses in Evangelii Gaudium, of a 'chaotic…genuine experience of fraternity, a caravan of solidarity, a sacred pilgrimage' experienced by Catholic people 'stepping into this floodtide' of life.
Theresa would be happy to chat further about the podcast and more.
The podcast is kindly supported by the Passionists of St Patrick's Province, Ireland & Britain and by CAFOD.
