In 2025, UNHCR estimate that around 47 million forceably displaced people are children, representing about 40% of the total refugee population. Photo by Salah Darwish on Unsplash.
This month's Prayer Vigil for Migrants and Refugees opposite the Home Office, takes place today, Monday, 19 May, from 12.30 - 1.30pm.
During the vigil the names of those known to have died trying to reach the UK in the past month will be read out. Prayers will be said for them and the many more unnamed victims; asylum seekers in detention centres; those who are homeless and those who struggle to inject welcome and humanity into our legislation.
Organised by the Diocese of Westminster Justice and Peace Commission and London Churches Refugee Fund, this event takes place on the third Monday of each month, outside the Home Office in Marsham Street, SW1P 4DF.
