LGBT+ Catholics prayer for the Conclave

The LGBT+ Catholics Westminster Pastoral Council is offering the following prayer to its community members as the Church prepares to elect a new Bishop of Rome after the death of Pope Francis. The Conclave to elect a new Pope will begin on Wednesday, 7 May.
LGBT+ Catholics Westminster is a chaplaincy of London's Westminster Roman Catholic Diocese, based at Farm Street Jesuit Church in Central London. It will be gathering there for the 17.30 Mass, Sunday, 11 May 2025, when it is possible that a new Pope could have been elected. Along with other members of the European Forum of LGBTI+ Christian Groups' Roman Catholic Church Working Group it has circulated a Submission to Cardinals covering the vision which LGBT+ Catholics have for a more welcoming and inclusive Church. AN LGBT+ PRAYER FOR THE CONCLAVE
God of grace-giving blessings for all your people, you planted a rainbow in the skies of this world as a sign of your unbreaking covenant. You have called all LGBT+ believers to respond to your created design, rejoicing in being wonderfully created, and reflecting your image in loving actions for human fulfilment and justice. May the breath of your Spirit be heard not only as a soft whisper but as a strong call by those who gather in conclave to elect a new Bishop of Rome, a pastor for the whole people of God. May this same Spirit who hovered over creation in rich diversity, so inspire a new servant of the servants of God to continue to journey with your faithful people in forming together a humble, listening, inclusive, and welcoming rainbow Church. This we ask in the name of the one who has broken out of all deathly closets, even from a desolate tomb, Jesus Christ, our brother and Redeemer. Amen
