Historic Ecumenical Service in London and Jerusalem

Source: Friends of the Holy Land

A special ecumenical service will take place in Temple Church, London, on Tuesday 20 May to mark the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea (325 AD) bringing together Christian leaders and communities for a profound moment of unity and prayer for peace, during this time of brokenness and conflict.

The event, hosted by Friends of the Holy Land, will feature a live stream broadcast from the Co-Cathedral of the Most Holy Name of Jesus in the Latin complex, Jerusalem. The service will commence at 12noon in London and 2pm IDT in Jerusalem.

His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa will lead the service in Jerusalem, with invitations extended to the other leaders in the Holy City. In London, Archbishop Hosam Naoum of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem will participate alongside Cardinal Vincent Nichols and Bishop Christopher Chessun as well as leaders from the Orthodox Churches and from Churches Together in England.

Following the service, there will be a private reception in Inner Temple, where Archbishop Hosam will offer a short presentation on the current situation in the Holy Land and the vital work of Friends of the Holy Land.

As the largest charity registered in England & Wales as well as Palestine, Friends of the Holy Land has the experience and network developed over 15 years of making a difference in the lives of our brothers and sisters in the region. At these critical times they are more than ever committed to responding with transformative action so that Christian communities persevere and remain in the land where Jesus once walked.

If you wish to attend please RSVP by 9 May at: www.friendsoftheholyland.org.uk/Event/temple25
