Another Catholic priest in Nigeria, Father Oliver Buba, was abducted during the early hours of Tuesday morning (21st May) by gunmen.
Fr Buba was seized at around 1am from the presbytery of St Rita's Church, Bare in Numan Local Government Area, Adamawa State.
Yola Diocese have released no details about who kidnapped him.
In a short statement, Bishop Stephen Dani Mamza said: "We invite all Christ's Faithful and all men and women of goodwill to earnestly prat for the quick and safe release of our Priest.
"We commend our brother, Very Rev Fr Oliver Buba to the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, for his speedy release from the hands of his abductors."
Fr Buba is the fifth priest to have been kidnapped in Nigeria this year. Last week Father Basil Gbuzuo was abducted in Onitsha Archdiocese and is still missing. Three of the victims of kidnapping - two Claretian missionaries and a parish priest from Benin City Archdiocese - have been released.
