As announced over the summer, the Prior of Taizé, Brother Alois, will hand over his office of "servant of communion" in the Community to Brother Matthew this Saturday 2 December at 8.30pm, during the final evening prayer before Advent Sunday.

The evening prayer will be attended by the Bishop of Autun, Benoît Rivière, Metropolitan Maximos of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Geneva, Anglican Bishops Olivia Graham of Reading and Smitha Prasadam of Huddersfield, as well as the Rev Laurent Schlumberger, former President of the United Protestant Church of France. Their presence will show the ecumenical character at the heart of Taizé's vocation.

At the end of December, several thousand young people from across Europe and from other continents will arrive in Ljubljana for a stage of the "pilgrimage of trust on Earth". This European Meeting is being prepared by the Taizé Community in cooperation with the local Churches, at the invitation of the Slovenian Bishops' Conference. Following on from Madrid, Wrocław, Turin and Rostock, this 46th European meeting will take place from Thursday 28 December 2023 to Monday 1 January 2024.

From September, several brothers of Taizé, two sisters from the Community of Saint Andrew and an international group of young volunteers have been in Ljubljana visiting the local churches in Ljubljana and the surrounding area. Participants will be received in 50 different parishes. It is possible to register till 10 December.

'Journeying Together', the title of the message written by Brother Matthew for 2024, will be the theme on which the young people will reflect during the meeting and then in Taizé throughout the year.
