Charles Plater Trust 2023 small grants available

The Charles Plater Trust (CPT) has today opened it's 2023 small grants programme.

The CPT recognises the challenges small charities face in securing funding to build their capacity or meet their core project costs, so the CPT provides grants to meet these needs. Grants for up to £5,000 are on offer and can be used to fund responses to local need in parishes, deprived communities or with marginalised groups to support initiatives for a year.

Philomena Cullen, the CPT manager said: "The not-for-profit sector in England and Wales is the engine on the ground delivering vital services every day, in every community. We understand the significant challenges small charities face to keep that engine going. We believe in each organisation we fund. We believe in what they do, and how they do it. We know that by investing in them, we are positively impacting the communities they work with."

Zino Prince Kashandi, from Sandwell Youth in Action (pictured third from left in photo), who was a 2022 small grant recipient said: "The funding we got was for our ex-offender employment club to help integrate BAME young people back into society. It's overwhelming to see how much funding can do in a community like mine. While you might call the funding small, the impact of that funding is huge. We have already supported five young people to find jobs, and nine to access training, so it really does change lives and show that young people can reach their potential."

Any small charity with an annual income of below £100,000 is eligible to apply directly on the new Charles Plater Trust website. There is an online application form for submission and the closing date is 10th October 2023.
