France: Bishops issue prayers in response to urban violence

On Friday June 30, 2023, the Conference of Bishops of France proposed a prayer intention and the leaders of worship in France (CRCF) launched a joint appeal regarding the situation in France.

Prayer for the return to peace in our country, proposed to the parishes and Catholic communities of France

We pray to you, Lord, for a return to calm and peace in our country.

We entrust Nahel to you and we pray for his loved ones. May the Spirit of light and peace sustain them.

We entrust to you the wounded of these nights of violence, those and those also whose places of life or work have been destroyed or damaged.

We pray to you, Lord, for those engaged in law enforcement and state services, under great pressure and sometimes attacked.

Inspire us, so that with believers of other Christian denominations and other religions as well as with all our fellow citizens, we know how to be artisans of dialogue and peace.

We still beg you: that even beyond the current explosions, our society can clearly identify the sources of violence and find the means to overcome it.
