A prayer poem for the Feast of St Peter and St Paul

Christ of new beginnings
Cephas - the rock
Paul the fearless preacher
knew the mercy of Your forgiveness.
Not once
but many times.
Called to follow You
they stumbled in the road
falling at times
failing at tasks
but never defeated.
Teach us by their example,
& through their intercession
never to lose hope
always to discern with others
the Gospel way
that with true humility
& contrite hearts
we too may
finish our race
as faithful servants
to gain the crown of everlasting life.
