The Heythrop Association (Heythrop College alumni) will be hosting an online lecture on Wednesday 22 March 2023 to which all are warmly invited.

Dr Michael Kirwan SJ will speak on "Hope-filled Christianity in a post-Christendom, post-secular Society."

Michael lectured at Heythrop College, University of London for twenty years. He is Assistant Professor in Catholic Theology and Director of the Loyola Institute, Trinity College Dublin.

Michael Kirwan is Associate Adjunct Professor at the Loyola Institute, Trinity College Dublin. He has lectured for twenty years at Heythrop College, University of London. He is a member of the British Province of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), which he entered in 1980.

His research and teaching interests include:

- The French cultural theorist Rene Girard, and the implications of his 'mimetic theory' of religion, culture and violence
- Contemporary political theology, and the public role of religion
- Theology and literature
- Jesuit spiritual reflection in a globalising world

His current projects include: an edited collection of essays on Girardian theory and Islam; a book project exploring aspects of the interface between mimetic theory, political theology and literature; a project of Jesuit 'global theology'.
