Pax Christi England and Wales and Christian CND will be hosting an online Ash Wednesday Witness, lamenting the UK's involvement in war and the supply of arms and, as we approach the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, praying for a ceasefire and peace rather than the escalation our political leaders seem to be encouraging.

The event begins on 22 February at 7pm on Zoom and you can register to attend here:

Pax Christi Merseyside is inviting all members and supporters in the North West to join them at St Luke's, Liverpool (the Bombed out Church) at 11.45am.

From St Luke's, there will be a procession to the Town Hall and the group will be calling on the Government to sign up to the UN Treaty Prohibiting Nuclear Weapons. For more information contact Jan Harper on janharper1@yahoo.co.uk

Ash Wednesday liturgy at Faslane -South Gate of Faslane at 2.45pm

The Glasgow Catholic Worker will join with others for our annual Ash Wednesday Service of repentance and resistance at the home of the UK's weapons of mass destruction. Michael Sutherland writes: "We start at the car park next to the South Gate where we will receive ashes and then process with the Nagasaki cross to the South Gate accompanied by readings, prayers and hymns. All are welcome.

To keep Lent is to confront the principalities and powers first of all in prayer. With Jesus we face the dark side of ourselves - this is so susceptible to capture and control by the powers. If it happens that we keep vigil publicly at the gates of economic, military, political or religious authority, we do so as an act of repentance, acknowledging the solidarity of sin."

All are invited to join Christian Climate Action's Ash Wednesday gatherings and walks to lament and protest the West Cumbria Coal Mine.

The London group will meet at 11.15am on the green outside the Houses of Parliament for a service of prayers, penitence and ashing, followed by prayers at the Home Office and then at Javelin Global Communities.

There are also gatherings in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester. Email christianclimateaction@gmail.com for details.
