Is your mission our mission?

Source: Missio

Missio is currently seeking three Trustees who are committed to helping us achieve our purpose by contributing their skills and experience to support our professional team and ensure that Missio operates within a robust governance framework.

We are looking especially for people with experience in finance, communications, education and youth ministry.

Missio is the Pope's official charity for world mission and is tasked by the Holy Father to provide spiritual and financial support to Catholic missionary dioceses throughout the world, where the Church is too young or poor to be self-sustaining. Missio is part of the global network of Pontifical Mission Societies, with 120 offices worldwide supporting 1,070 missionary dioceses in 157 countries.

Catholics in England and Wales, through Missio, contribute to the Church's day-to-day work in over 40 missionary dioceses, seeking to show the love of Christ to everyone, and especially to those in need, of all faiths and none. We support the training of tomorrow's Priests and Sisters, creating a vibrant future for the Catholic Church, and we support programmes that protect and care for the spiritual and physical wellbeing of the world's poorest children.

Missio is a charity which feels a close connection to the people it serves and to its supporters in every diocese across England and Wales. Consequently, we seek people with a passion for mission and for communicating with people.

We serve and are supported by diverse communities and are committed to developing a Trustee Board which reflects the diversity of these communities. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. It is no obstacle if you haven't served on a board before. We value commitment, insight and perspective and will support you to develop the necessary Trustee experience.

If you are committed to our work and would be happy to attend three Trustee Board meetings per year and perhaps serve on a committee, we would like to speak with you. Missio is based in central London, a short walk from Victoria station where most Trustee meetings are held, though we do use hybrid digital meetings too. Expenses can be reimbursed.

Closing date for applications is 14 October 2022 and interviews will be held in London later in October/early November 2022. Successful candidates will also be invited to observe the Trustee Board meeting in the afternoon of 7 December 2022.
