Heythrop Association Talk on Synodality

Brendan Callaghan SJ
The Heythrop Association (Heythrop College alumni) is hosting an online gathering to be led by Fr Brendan Callaghan SJ on Tuesday 20 September 2022. The event - a talk entitled 'Synodality and Discernment: becoming a Listening Church' will be preceded by a brief AGM of the Association at 7pm so the suggested time for joining the meeting as a visitor is 7.15pm. All will be very welcome. The Zoom link is below.
Brendan Callaghan said: "Since the Second Vatican Council, the separation between "ecclesia docens" and "ecclesia discens" (that is, between the hierarchy as the teaching church and the laity as the believing church), has been substantially rethought. One expression of this has been the growing importance of two key ideas - discernment and synodality - as embodying aspects of the working of the Holy Spirit among all believers. We are all called to listen to the Spirit, whom we believe to be at work within us as individuals and among us as church. We have already experienced something of this in the Synodal discussions that have been taking place these last months. Continuing to take this call seriously will transform us into a listening Church".
