On Holy Saturday, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI will celebrate his 95th birthday. The Tagespost Foundation for Catholic Journalism is inviting readers to send their congratulations and blessings to him on their website. The messages will be collected and given to Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.
"I know he is very happy about it," says Archbishop Georg Gänswein, Benedict XVI's private secretary.
Already, numerous faithful have congratulated the pope emeritus. Cardinal Kurt Koch wrote: "My first word can only be gratitude. I thank God that on Holy Saturday 1927 he gave us Joseph Ratzinger as a fine man, profoundly devout Christian, outstanding theologian and kind bishop and pope. And I thank Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI for his lifelong witness to the love of God and for his convincing theological life's work."
The purely donation-funded website, www.BenedictusXVI.com, is offered by the Tagespost Foundation for Catholic Journalism. This website provides information about the theological work of Joseph Ratzinger and was created in close cooperation with him. The Tagespost Foundation for Catholic Journalism was initiated in 2019 by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. It stands for independent Catholic journalism.
