Booking: Lecture Series - Women Who Changed the Church


From next week, the Margaret Beaufort Institute of Theology in Cambridge is hosting an online lecture series entitled Women Who Changed the Church. Throughout history, women have consistently changed church practice, communities, and ideas. This eight lecture series explores inspirational women whose lives and actions have been transformational within the Church. This series is designed to open discussion spaces to celebrate, uncover, and critique the contributions of women to and throughout Church history.

You can now register for this popular and thought-provoking lecture series happening online on Thursday afternoons 2 to 3.30pm from 20 January through to 10 March 2022. Each lecture costs £10. They can be booked altogether or individually.


Speakers include: Dr Sue Price of MBIT on Mary Mother of God and More (20 January); Prof Charlotte Methuen of Glasgow University on Women in the German Reformation (27 January); Dr Sr Jo Robson OCD on St Teresa of Avila ( 3 February ); Dr Carmen M Mangion of the University of London on Women Religious and the Welfare State (10 February) Sr Pavlína Kašparová on Female Self Understanding and the Idea of Religious Femininity (17 February ); Dr Phyllis Zagano an internationally acclaimed Catholic scholar and lecturer on contemporary spirituality and women's issues on Women Deacons and the Synod ( 24 February) ; Prof Jeana Del Rosso of Notre Dame of Maryland University on Unruly Catholic Nuns (3 March ); Prof Shannen Dee Williams of University of Dayton (Mary Ward Lecture 2022) on Experience of Black Religious in the African American Freedom Struggle (FREE) (10 March)

You can also sign up for the women-only CTP discussion workshops led by Dr Louise Nelstrop and colleagues on three Thursdays from 4 to 5:30pm to explore all the topics in more depth. £180 for the three workshops and all eight lectures.
