Roman site in Sebastiya

Roman site in Sebastiya

A lively evening of comedy, music, poetry and conversation will takes place on Thursday 9 December to raise funds for the projects of Hanwell Friends of Sebastiya (HAFSA).

The line-up includes Palestinian comedian Alaa Shehada, musician and author Leon Rosselson, Dr Hanan Ashwari, spokesperson for the Palestinian delegation to the Middle East peace process talking with Sir Vincent Fean, singer songwriter Robb Johnson, and writer Mona Halaby.

Sabastiya is a Palestinian village on a hill in the north of the West Bank, set in a fertile valley where figs, olives, almonds, grapes and other fruits and vegetables are grown. It is a fascinating village with a long and rich history and where, to this day, ancient columns built in Roman times still stand. It has a population of a little over 3,000 people, all living under the weight of military occupation.

HAFSA is a friendship organisation with a link between the people of Hanwell, in west London, and the people of Sabastiya. They create friendship and understanding by encouraging visits, supporting projects and forming grassroots educational and cultural links between the two communities.

By buying your ticket you are helping HAFSA raise funds in support of the people in Sabasastiya. If you are not sure, just take a quick peek at this video of the HAFSA Orange Tree project: HERE
