Student journalists get exclusive interview with Suzi Quatro

  • Jo Siedlecka

Young reporters from St John Bosco College in Battersea have scored a real hit in the Christmas edition of their magazine Faith Matters.

A lively eclectic mix of news and features, the magazine, written entirely by 6th Form students at SJBC, under guidance of editor-in-chief Fr Andrew, includes a story about Christmas cribs, an interview with a band of musical sisters from Spain, reflections, music reviews, a piece on Leandro Castellani, writer director of the 1988 film about Don Bosco, an exclusive interview with rugby star Jonny Wilkinson on 'Ethical Living' - and an exclusive interview with singer-songwriter Suzi Quatro.

Suzi Quatro was born in Detroit, Michigan, home of Motown. She was raised a Catholic, and clearly continues to have a strong faith in Jesus Christ. At 21 she moved to the UK after being spotted by record producer Mickie Most. She based her leather clad style on her childhood idol, Elvis Presley.

Suzi enjoyed enormous success in the 70s and 80s - with at least 16 chart-topping hits - and continues to attract a huge following now. On 20 April 2022, she will be performing at the Royal Albert Hall a the start of a European tour.

In a recent interview in The Times she revealed her desire to invite Jesus to a fantasy dinner party. This prompted the editorial team at Faith Matters to make contact with her. They said: "She was very gracious in engaging in an email interview."
