The annual Blessing of St Colette, with the Poor Clare Colettine Sisters, in Nottingham, takes place this Saturday.

During her life, St Colette, a 15th Century Poor Clare, was famed for her prayers for children - especially those very much wanted or on the way. The Annual Mass and Blessing in her honour, with Sisters, is a happy occasion where usually, families bring their children and give thanks for their arrival. Its also an opportunity to receive a blessing with a relic of St Colette's veil which she once wrapped round a dead child that the Lord subsequently restored to life.

This year, because of the lockdown, families will not be able to attend in person - but the Blessing ceremony will reach a wider audience because it is going to be streamed online.

The Sisters of Marian House Poor Clare Colettines in Nottingham, will join in prayers to the Lord with Saint Colette for those who long to conceive a child, expectant mothers and the sick, especially sick children. They will also be praying for the healing of our world from the coronavirus and a new beginning in God's love.

The Sisters say: "If you contact us to ask for prayers we will remember you by (first) name or initial on the day." Send prayer requests to: community@marianhouseoftheholyspiritpcc.org
