Schools nationwide share light of Jesus this Christmas

On Thursday 10 December, CAFOD celebrated its national Advent assembly for schools, 'Light of the world'. In Catholic schools across England and Wales, around 65,000 children and young people were able to reflect on how to cultivate kindness this Advent to show the power that they can have in our wider global communities.
In what has been a challenging year, CAFOD has been blown away by the incredible level of support and dedication from schools up and down the country. It has been difficult to connect as a Catholic community this Advent but our assembly offered a moment for schools and students self-isolating at home to unite.
The 'Light of the world' assembly focused on how children can take action to make the world a better place for their brothers and sisters around the world. The assembly featured the stories of young people who are part of CAFOD's international work in Lebanon, Colombia and Bangladesh. They shared positive stories of hope, showing the difference that CAFOD supporters have made during the extra challenging time of a global pandemic.
Following the event, many schools have shared ways they are getting involved after being inspired by the assembly's message. This includes drawing a candle and writing how they plan to help others this Christmas, helping raise money for CAFOD world gifts, and praying for our global family.
We plan to hold many more national assemblies in 2021 to continue to share what our community can and is achieving when working together.
