CAFOD petition: Ask the government to lead the way in Glasgow

Source: CAFOD

World leaders will gather at the end of this year in Glasgow for the global climate talks.

As the host, the eyes of the world will be on the UK. In order to ensure everyone can flourish we need to renew God's precious gift of creation, enable people to adapt to a warming world and stop the climate crisis from getting worse.

Tell the Prime Minister to ensure we're a credible leader - sign the petition today.

Petition to the Prime Minister

Dear Prime Minister,

Pope Francis calls us to listen to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor. But we are ignoring both.

Homes, health, food and people's ability to earn a living are being destroyed by the climate crisis and the pollution of our land, rivers, oceans and forests. It is poor and vulnerable communities who have contributed the least to climate change who are affected the most right now.

To set us on a path to recovery, will you put people and planet at the heart of every decision you make?

In 2020, the eyes of the world will be on the UK as hosts of the global climate talks in Glasgow. In order to be credible leaders will you stop overseas support for:

- large-scale agriculture that harms the environment, and instead support ways that give local people the power to feed themselves while protecting the Earth for future generations

- fossil fuels that add to the climate crisis and instead support local, renewable energy that has the needs of the poorest at its heart.
