Theologian David McLoughlin to speak at Harpenden parish
There will be an opportunity to hear the eminent theologian David McLoughlin this Saturday, 4 January, when he gives a talk and presentation at Our Lady of Lourdes Undercroft, Rothamsted Avenue, Harpenden. The theme of his talk is: 'Working for Justice and Peace - a Spirituality for Today'.
David McLoughlin is the recently retired Emeritus Fellow of Newman University, Birmingham.
Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Harpenden, received the CAFOD Live Simply Award last February. A flourishing Livesimply programme continues, encouraged by a worldwide renewed interest in major ecological issues, led by Pope Francis.
The parish Livesimply programme involves Creation liturgies, environmental issues and campaigns, recycling, country walks and support for the local Foodbank. There is also a longstanding Developing World Group that continues to raise generous amounts of money for projects around the world. The talk by David McLoughlin should expand the 'solidarity with the poor' aspect of the Livesimply programme and place it firmly within a context of spirituality.
The talk is at 11am. A shared lunch will follow the talk. All are welcome.
