New show: Walking to Jerusalem

In 2017, to mark the centenary of the Balfour Declaration, the fiftieth year of the Occupation of Palestinian Territories and the tenth year of the blockade of Gaza, in partnership with Amos Trust, the award-winning playwright, actor and musician Justin Butcher organised and led the Just Walk to Jerusalem - a 3,400 km pilgrimage on foot from London to Jerusalem, calling for equal rights in the Holy Land.

His book, Walking to Jerusalem, was published by Hodder & Stoughton in November 2018. To launch its paperback publication in the UK, and publication in the USA by Pegasus Books, Justin has created a new solo show, weaving together the highlights of the Walk with a magical sound & video design by JACK ARNOLD (Wild Rose, War and Peace) and DAMIAN HALE (Sigur Ros, Chemical Brothers, U2), directed by MATILDA REITH (Genesis-shortlisted, The Good Times, The Andrea Project, Hotel Room).

Walking to Jerusalem, opens at Hoxton Hall, 130 Hoxton Street, London N1 6SH, on Thursday 19th September and Friday 20th September, at 7.30pm.

After the premiere at Hoxton Hall, the show on the road to Guildford, Birmingham, Dublin Theatre Festival, Bristol, Suffolk, Devon, York and Cambridge.

Funds raised at these performances will go to support the inspiring work of Amos Trust's partners in Palestine -

Al-Ahli Hospital & NECC in Gaza, and Alrowwad Youth Centre for Culture & Arts, Holy Land Trust & Wi'am Conflict Resolution Centre in Bethlehem.
