Letter: Get arms dealers off our streets

The 'DSEI' arms fair is preparing to set up shop on my doorstep, at the Excel Exhibition Centre in Newham, London, and I need your help.

This neighbourhood was massively hit by The Blitz during the Second World War, so we know all too well the devastation caused by weapons of war.

As part of local campaign group Newham Against the Arms Fair, I've helped win support from our local MPs, Councillors, MEP and Mayor for our campaign to stop the arms fair coming to Newham. Now we need your help to step up the pressure.

The 'Royal Docks Enterprise Zone' is the body responsible for all businesses in the area, including the Excel Exhibition Centre. With enough public pressure, they could force the Excel to say no to hosting events that violate human rights, like arms fairs that promote weapons used to commit torture and oppression.

Please sign our petition to kick the arms fair out of Excel: https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/no-arms-fair-in-newham

The Royal Docks Enterprise Zone Board is meeting on Wednesday morning, so we need your help now. A boost to our petition in time for this meeting means we can send our message loud and clear to Board members that DSEI is not wanted. Not here, not anywhere.

Please add your voice now to help us ramp up pressure at Wednesday's meeting.

Thank you so much for your support.
