This Thursday, 20 June at Kirchentag, the thriving Protestant church festival in Germany, #ThursdaysInBlack, the global campaign for a world without rape and violence, will take the stage during a noon presentation.

World Council of Churches (WCC) deputy general secretary Dr Isabel Apawo Phiri will share from the heart about her personal and ecumenical commitment to overcoming gender-based violence. She'll be joined by speakers from Argentina, India and Germany. Music by the Oybele Feschthall Singers, led by choirmaster Johannes Heller, will give a spiritual boost to listeners.

During the event, the WCC invites all people of goodwill to tweet their support for Thursdays in Black to express global solidarity on an unprecedented level.

Can we reach our goal of setting a record number of #ThursdaysinBlack tweets in one hour?

The 37th biannual Kirchentag is taking place in Dortmund, 19-23 June, and will draw more than 100,000 people for a "festival of faith". Over 2,000 events will be held in 200 places over five days.
